Taking a (very) short break!

Hello guys!

As you can see my posting has been rather sporadic! 😛 I’m super busy so I think I’ll have to take a short break from the 31 day challenge and stuff. I’ll start posting regularly again next week, most likely.

Until then, have some cute superhero nails I made for a customer last night!

Manicure Monday and 31 Day Challenge Mashup: Day 7 (Black & White)

Today’s challenge is Black and White. Probably my least favourite colour combo on my own nails. Plain white just looks awful on my nails…I love making nail sets in these colours though~

Gosh…I didn’t notice how badly they’d chipped/shrunk until I zoomed in! Oh well…

Nail Polishes Used:

  • Cuteberry Lacquers Crazy Diamond (tee hee)
  • Etude House Jelly Pop
  • Sation Black
  • Seche Vite
  • SH French White

Months (maybe years) ago I saw an adorable Etude House advertisement featuring cat nail art. I adore cats so I hunted down the ad. It’s for their nail art pens, which are apparently pretty decent.

ETUDE HOUSE - Nail Art Pen

I’m going to do a cute animal nail art tutorial soon, so I can show you guys how to make the kitty!

First, I painted 1 coat of Sation Black (opaque, non-streaky black in 1 coat? be still my heart!) on each nail except for the ring finger, which is 2 coats of SH French White. I used some Seche Vite to speed things up. I then used a makeup sponge to make a glitter gradient on the black nails using Crazy Diamond. Last, I used calligraphy pens to paint the kitty on my ring finger using black and white acrylic ink. The last touch was to use a dotting tool very carefully to give Mr Kitty a silver bow. I then used Jelly Pop to seal it in, and glued on a clear rhinestone to decorate the bow.

For some reason the cuticle on the white nail basically peeled off. I think I must have messed up with my Seche Vite >_< Oh well…

Hope you enjoy and thanks for stopping by. =)

31 Day Challenge: Day 6 (Purple)

Waahhh…I’m so bad at this lol. I’ve been busy so I haven’t had time to write many posts, but I did actually do my nails this time, so there’s that!

Today’s challenge is Purple.

Nail Polishes Used:

  • China Glaze Sweet Hook
  • Etude House Jelly Pop

Ok. These are so simple that it’s pointless to write out the process for how I made them. First I painted 2 coats of Sweet Hook. Then I added a layer of Jelly Pop and glued on the big gems/pearls first. Then I cut some lengths of silver ball chain and stuck them on last.  Voila~ pretty purple nails!

I was inspired by Gyaru Hime style nails, which are obviously much more elaborate than these ones haha! But the style elements are the same: big gems and 3d pieces in girly colours and patterns.

Thanks for stopping by!

31 Day Challenge: Day 5 (Blue)

I was really busy the other day and didn’t get a chance to write my blog post! So here it is, 1 day late haha. I hope you can forgive me! >_<

Sorry the photos suck again…Toronto is in severe sunshine deprivation right now lol. I can’t wait for springtime so I can actually take good pictures!

Polishes Used:

  • Etude House CBL601
  • Etude House Jelly Pop
  • SH French White

I was totally thinking of Marie Antionette and some of the beautiful blue dresses she wore! To start, I painted 1 coat of CBL601. I then added the half-moons at the bottom in French White, and used a dotting tool to add the polka dots to each nail. Then I painted each nail with a thick layer of Jelly pop and decorated them with rhinestones and gold beads.

Tomorrow I’ll be bringing you an awards post and my Violet challenge nails! Take care and thanks for reading.

31 Day Challenge: Day 4 (Green)

Hello everybody! Day 4 of the 31 Day Challenge is Green. Of course, that means I had to do an opulent Slytherin-themed manicure.

And for the record, I prefer Ravenclaw.

Nail Polishes Used:

  • Illamasqua Viridian
  • WnW Silvivor

I tried to get photos of these one my nails but they’re all way too big (moreso than usual) so the photos looked terrible, haha. These pictures show the nails just as nicely anyway.

I painted 2 coats of Viridian on each nail. Then I freehanded some designs using Silvivor on the middle nails. Next, I used striping tape to create some nice shiny edges. After that, I used some glue to apply rhinestones and silver chains.

Thanks for stopping by!

31 Day Challenge: Day 3 (Yellow)

I don’t know how I feel about yellow nail polish. Sometimes I think it’s adorable…sometimes I think it’s really ugly. Which is strange, because I love to wear yellow! Anyway…ready for some obnoxiously bright acrylic yellow nails? All I could think of was that annoying Wiz Khalifa song. Black and yellow black and yellow black and yellow black and yellow!

Or Hufflepuff. Let’s go with Hufflepuff!

Nail Polishes Used:

  • Essence Mellow Yellow (I think? I can’t remember the name of this one for the life of me…)

Basically I plopped down one coat of the Mellow Yellow, then used black striping tape  after it dried. I used some clear polish to stick on the clear and black rhinestones, and voila! Bumblebee nails, Wu Tang nails, schoolbus nails…whatever you wanna call them, lol.
Enjoy and thanks for reading! Stay tuned for another post coming today~

31 Day Challenge: Day 2 (Orange)

Hello everyone! Day 2 of this challenge is Orange. I’m gonna be breaking out the falsies for these since there’s noooo way that I’ll subject my nails to a daily acetone bath, haha. Behold…fizzy orange drink nails!

Nail Polishes Used:

  • Essie Pure Pearlfection
  • Etude House OR201
  • SH French White

These photos aren’t so great but I tried my best.
First, I painted 1 coat of OR201, and then layered Pure Pearlfection on top. I’m convinced that Pure Pearlfection looks good on everything! Then I used a dotting tool to add the ‘fizz’ to the tips, and added some extra orange dots with a smaller dotting tool. While the polish was still wet, I sliced some cute fruit fimo canes and stuck them on. Maybe not the most practical look ever, but it’s still cute!
